About The Essam Research

There are quite a number of Essam's who are researching the name.
So far most have traced back to Hugh Essam of Pipwell, baptised at Wilbarston
from whom most of the line descends (although there is a little more information
as you will see on the Family Tree) and it would seem that all Essam's are related.
There is however one line which seems to originate in London and some
other Essam researchers descend from this line. I am sure that somewhere
there is a common link, we have just been unable to find it yet, and may
never find it. The reason for this is that there are 100 years of records
missing at Wilbarston, due to a damaged parish register, and I think that
the information needed to trace the family back further may unfortunately be lost.
There are earlier records of the Essam name as you will see from the details
that I have transcribed over the years directly from the parish records.
There is however nothing that I can link as yet, although I am sure that
they are ours.
I personally have been researching the name for well over 10 years and word
has got around that I have collected quite a lot of information. As a result
I have been swamped with emails requesting information. I decided that the easiest
way for anyone to access the information and the tree that I have, would be to produce
this website. I hope you find it interesting and useful.
